Artist Statement
We are marked. By everything from the mundane to the extraordinary. The people in our lives, the families we are born into and the families we choose. Where we were born and where we choose to live.
My work explores the ways we are connected and separated. How what we choose moves us closer or further from others. How our choices bind or separate us from the people in our lives. The constants of change, family, people, and place. How the hard and easy of ordinary life is transformative. The cycles of life we both produce and endure.
I use traditional weaving techniques, embroidery, and mixed media materials to create fiber art.
Bio
Lindsay is a fiber artist living and working in El Paso, Texas. Her degree in Visual Communication Design married with her art practice merges her love of research and the forms of visual communication with the traditional fiber practices of weaving and embroidery. Her work focuses on the ways we both connect with each other and how we choose to be separate. The constants of change, family, people, and place. The cycles of life we both produce and endure. The transformative nature of ordinary life.
